Sparkle galore

This Friday I participated in a blogger event at Michal Negrin's visitors center in Bat Yam. The place is target of visits from all over the world, where people can enter the world of this super sparkly designer and witness her creation process as well as the inside of her factory - manufacturing jewelry, fashion, and home wear that is sold around the world. 

We started by having a nice breakfast, then headed to a tour of the factory and finally had a wonderful workshop where each of us got to create her very own She Shy doll. That part was simply heaven for me, and ended up in me bagging Michal to let me live in the puppeteer's studio filled with every embellishment I ever dreamed of working with. It was such a fun day!

Sigma makeup brush international blog giveaway!

Hello boys and girls, and happy Passover for those celebrating it and happy Easter too!

Some of you may know I also have a (plus size) fashion blog in Hebrew, which you can read using Google Translate or other translation tools.

Well, I recently got one of Sigma's excellent flat top kabuki makeup brushes (F80) to review. The brush turned out to be an excellent alternative to the almost three time more expensive Mac kabuki brush. It's soft, dense and smooth and requires half the amount of liquid foundation my other foundation brush does.  An altogether thumbs up (and my Hebrew blog readers know I am not quick to pass a positive judgment on products I receive for review, not automatically anyway).

The company Also suggested I hold a giveaway where one of my readers will win one of these brushes, which they will ship free of charge no matter what country the winner lives in. A lovely weekend in pictures

Last weekend was so lovely! I took many photographs to remember and share, and here are my favorites.

I started the weekend holding a used clothes sale on my rooftop with my friend and fellow fashion blogger Tamar. We sold cloths we no longer need as well as my puppets and handmade jewelery. It was tons of fun and we're holding another one tomorrow.

Saturday, my friends and I drove to the country for a Collage Sale with many wonderful handmade artists and small businesses who sell shabby chic items.

I also took many photographs around the village, since everything was in bloom and so beautiful. I wonder if I can live in a place like that without going out of my mind with boredom..

Later on that afternoon, I came back home and decided to work on the garden and plant the flowers and greens I bought the day before, after spending a miserable afternoon visiting my dad's grave. Nothing cheers me up like flowers do. They are my favorite thing in the world.

That's about it! Here's to a wonderful weekend for all of us. Passover starts in about 10 days, which means very long weekend and holidays for yours truly, yay!

A short note and an even shorter little lady

To let you know I am (finally) working on a batch of new Flutterbutts that will be listed on my shop in near future. One might say, it's about time too!

It Gets Better

I have a confession: I am straight. Utterly and completely straight.

And yet, when I came about the It Gets Better project, I teared up while watching some of the wonderful videos on their website. 

The goal of this project is to show gay, lesbian and transgendered youth, especially suicidal ones, that a good future does wait for them - one filled with love, success, friends, fun, joy and all other things grown ups know there is to life, which is sometimes invisible to young people.

But I also relate to the message - I was bullied for many years as a child. I was too different, too sensitive, too desperate for love, too loud, too silly, too smart and on top of all - too fat. One of the great wonders of my life (to me) is how I managed to grow up to be a loving compassionate woman and not a bitter, spiteful, miserable person. Somehow, I always find the power to continue - despite adversities and no matter how lonely I feel.

So I relate to the wonderful message of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and would like to add to it - No matter how "strange" you are, persevere, educate yourself about being fabulous and reach out to people you can relate to and don't lose hope, because no matter what injures your soul - It does get better.

My birthday party

Last night I held my Birthday party, which was tons of fun!

There were far too many people to seat..

Everybody brought yummy foods and assorted beverages. My favorite were the vodka jello shots, I was finally able to enjoy, not having to drive home after the party.

My friend Tamar even made a cake featuring my new tattoo!

I also received many wonderful gifts - books, and jewelry, and accessories and a spa visit!

Finally, my friends took this very short film as a contribution to Zia Kitaro's exciting new project Bits of My Life in Israel. The idea behind this project is to share moments of life in Israel, unedited but refined to 30-90 second films that will show the world who lives here and illustrate that there is more to Israel than politics and conflicts. Though what you see in this specific film is a conflict between myself and a snail who lives on my roof garden.

I plan to film several bits of my life during the next weeks, and will be sharing them with you here.

So that was my birthday party. I am blessed to have so many wonderful friends I love to have come celebrate with me. This is one year celebrating was mandatory!
